Film Stills | Illustrations

Not much to say apart from I'm a big fan of films so I've started to create a series of film still illustrations. These stills are from movies I love and films I'm excited to see, so watch this space!

Last month I created an illustration of Valentino's chain shoulder bag in collaboration with Esther Stewart.

I thought I would share my process with you, in particular how I created the illustration above. As I was working I took screenshots which I have turned into the following GIF.

I usually start with a very rough sketch to get the proportions correct and over that I create a more detailed outline to work from. Using the outline I add blocks of colour, I then remove the outline after it is completely filled in. I then begin building up the image by adding shadows, followed by highlights. Finally I add any textures and outlines required.

Little White Lies | Slow West Creative Brief

Recently Little White Lies set a creative brief in relation to the movie Slow West by John Maclean. The brief was to design a poster that reimagines a classic film in the style of an old-school shoot em' up western. It can be anything you like - your all-time favourite film or simply something iconic. I decided to westernise Die Hard.

Met Gala 2015 | Illustrations

The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball is an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institue, New York City. Each year the event celebrates a theme, this year being 'China Through the Looking Glass'. Each guest then has to dressing in formal attire relating to the chosen theme. I decided to illustrate some of my favourite looks from this years event.
